We all hand on everything, whether we like it or not, that’s the nature of life and yes it can hurt like a flaming arrow to the heart.
But if trust and faith are to be believed in, as difficult as that can be, then its soft and pliable shield of compassion can soften and blunt the burning point of pain.
For those whose hearts are truly and compassionately involved in trying to find kind compassionate and appropriate homes for Bali Dogs on Bali, it can be a minefield of misery. It’s a universal dilemma and on Bali it’s no different at all.
Happy endings are rare and many Bali Street Dogs must begin again, not from where they left off, their territory has been already backfilled, now they are completely lost and adrift.
Bali Street Dogs are consummate character profilers, it’s the only way they have survived so long with their own kind and Humankind.
So when one of those rare combinations comes together, it can only work where trust faith and compassion are present.
That’s what all can hope for.
'Nothing is simply black and white on Bali and every form of reality fades in and out in balance'.
Around the same time as Julia Roberts was exposing the Island of the Gods to a hungry and searching mass of future starry eyed resident Bulenese expats, the shackles were being unshackled on ‘regulations’ that prevented foreign breed dogs from entering Bali. Along with the subsequent migratory arrival of ‘Hindu Hype’ seekers with their substantial wealth, in comparison to average Balinese, they also dragged their baggage with them, including their ‘furbabies’.
The Bali Street Dog is not a recognised breed, is not a pure breed, and as it presently stands, they and it will probably never achieve such a lofty status level. However the Bali Street Dog is a breed all of its own, and has been, way way way before Eat Pray love and its offshoots of misty eyed minions.
Cross Breeding is now the future and that’s not necessarily a good bad or indifferent thing, it’s just the reality, it just is. What will become of the breed formally known as The Bali Street Dog is open to every genetic possibility now.
Crossing the dog of all dogs with all those other dogs will certainly result in Mutts with very interesting attitudes. One can only pray that the resulting nature spawned from such combinations has a majority of Bali Street Dog genes uploaded.
Julia and company of course will never ever know that as they were going about spreading the seeds of tropical love, at the same time they were opening the door to a hungry hoard of hounds, a ripening growth industry.
A relentless movement, that would indivertibly and inevitably eat away one of the most culturally iconic and balancing symbols on Island Bali.
