Elimination Envy

Like all things Bali, open and in your face is the way.  I expect that’s why those searching for short or long term stays are drawn to the Island of smiles and bendy rules.  Corruption is open and accepted, road rules are fluid and flowing and possibilities are always possible. So when an actual law is openly imposed and a no negotiation in your face clause is applied, all hell breaks loose from the foreign faction.

In all off Bali countries, culling and elimination takes place at a rampant rate.  But of course in such ‘first world and civilized locales’, the humans who are humanely eliminating are doing it in closed and sanitized safe rooms so as to not upset.  It’s now becoming an accepted norm and a globally ratified zone of human comfort in regard to the wholesale slaughter of stray and free roaming anything.

So when the darts went out on this latest round of elimination of stray and free roaming dogs the law of the land was enacted in that open and in your face Bali style.  There are many Governments that would like nothing better than to emulate such a strategy; however they are also unfortunately very conscious of not awakening the masses from their conditioned ignorance and stupor.

Bali Dogs have done nothing to deserve such agonizing deaths.  But there are many others and a whole heap of foreign backed voices among them, who would readily and vehemently disagree.  There are those who would hold up the complete pack of mangy and rabid ridden terrors of tourists as the perfect excuse to sterilize the streets of such useless vermin.

An ancient and iconic local dog is now more than ever being directly threatened from outside global pressures upon Balinese authorities to move with the new and jettison the old.  The reality is new money mad with old mangy mutt just doesn’t add up.

So for those who are horrified by whatever lawful action is underway, never ever forget that what you see on Bali is what you get and historically that’s been the love affair with life on Planet Bali.  Unlike many overregulated and constipated countries Bali is still bendy and flowing, for now.

For all its faults it is still a place of welcoming open in your face smiles, for now.  For now, the foreign faction on Bali is not yet so ruled over and rigidly regulated, that the only choice they will be left with is to ‘fit in or fuck off’.
